2017/2018 Season Traditional Turkish Dried Apricots Market Update

January 26, 2018

Dried Apricots

According to the Malatya Provincial Food, Agriculture and Livestock Directorate, the production was estimated 142,260 Metric Tons in 2017/2018 season. This means the production increased by 38% in respect  to previous season. World consumption was estimated as 226,260 metric tons by 30% increase.

Due to the cold weather conditions in the region, the fruits were smaller and sweetening were lessened. Around 60% of the crop was estimated to be suitable for exportation. This leads a price increase in big sizes as number 1 and 2 since there is a lack of availability.
