Organic Dates and Types

June 5, 2017

Dates are available year round. There are three main categories of dates: soft, semisoft, and dry.

Date fruit is one of the oldest and sweetest fruits around and also happens to come in many different types. Although dates can be eaten fresh, the fruit is very often dried, resembling raisins or plums.

Let’s check the different types of the organic dates. You can find from different sources over 99 types of dates but we will check the most popular ones.

Types of dates

1. King of Dates – Medjool Dates

Medjool or Medjoul Dates are accepted as ‘king of dates’ all around the world. These semisoft dates are sweet, moist, meaty, and firm-textured.

2. Deglet Nour Dates – Tunisian Dates with Stalk

The other semisoft date type, deglet nour is the variety most often available and accounts for 95 percent of U.S. production. It has firm flesh and a color range from light red to amber.

3. Ajwa Dates

This type is accepted as miraculous food of the mother earth. They are a delightfully soft and fruity, quite dark in color and tend to be a more of dry variety of date from  Saudi Arabia, that is actually cultivated in Madinah Munawwara.

4. Zahidi Dates

Zahidi dates have a caramel color and nutty flavour. They are a species that are firm on the outside and sweet on the inside. They are also delicious like the others.
